Application Of Sublimation Transfer Paper - Mug

Jun 10, 2022

One of the essential supplies for dye sublimation technology is sublimation transfer paper. To achieve the transfer of the design, the professional sublimation ink is used to print the pattern on the paper. The paper is then heated to cause the dye to transfer to the substrate's surface. In contrast to the conventional printing method, the novel printing approach eliminates the need for expensive template production. To finish the production process, all that is required is a computer linked to a professional digital printer that has the appropriate hot press mold. As a result, this technique may be produced in large quantities at a reduced cost of manufacture. It can do one-to-one individual customisation services at a reasonable cost and is better suited for small quantities of customized products.

Among them, mugs, as a common necessities of life, have always been a popular field of personalized customization. People want to print their favorite patterns on the mug, which may be an anime character, a favorite text, a movie moment, or a photo of an important person around them.Having a mug that is unique to you can not only satisfy your own preferences, but also allow others to understand yourself in another direction.

The custom process of the mug is no different from the normal dye sublimation transfer. Print your favorite pattern on the inverted sublimation paper. After drying, cover the surface of the paper pattern on the cup wall. After heat treatment, the pattern can be successfully transferred to the surface of the inverted mug. The specific operations are as follows:

    1. After the porcelain cup with the picture is wrapped and placed in the baking coaster, close the pressure handle, plug in the power supply, and flip on the main power switch. You may also adjust the ejector screw to make the pressure reasonable. It should be noted that excessive pressure will cause the pressure handle to distort. Before covering the image on the cup wall, cut it out to the same size as the wall, place it on the wall, and secure it with adhesive tape. To prevent direct contact between the picture and the cup wall, an additional layer of paper should be placed on the exterior if the image is too small to cover the full wall.

    2. The cup maker starts to heat up according to the preset temperature. When it reaches the set maximum temperature, it stops heating and the timer starts timing.

    3. When the time reaches the set value, the buzzer will alarm.

4.Turn off the power, take out the baked porcelain cup, soak it in clean water several times (be sure to immerse it in cold water to prevent the ink from spreading), take it out, and wipe it dry. The specific parameters need to be adjusted based on experience and actual conditions.

It should be noted that a transparent resin will be sprayed on the surface of the mug made of sublimation transfer printing.

For hot pressing in this method, a cup baking machine is necessary. Higher-quality printed goods are produced when the cup surface and the sublimation transfer paper are tightly adhered to, which is made possible by the cup baking machine. As of right now, the cup baking machine works best with cylindrical, semi-circular, and conical mugs; it is unable to bake mugs of other forms.

The sublimation technique produces a mug with a superior texture, a consistent surface feel, no foreign body feeling, brilliant, consistent color, and resistance to fading.
