What should be paid attention to when transferring with sticky sublimation paper?

May 07, 2025

When using sticky sublimation paper for transfer, you need to pay attention to the following aspects:

1. Before Transfer

Pattern design and file preparation: Make sure the resolution of the pattern is high enough to ensure clarity after transfer. The color mode should be set to CMYK or RGB to avoid using incompatible color modes.

Transfer paper inspection: Check whether the transfer paper is damaged, wrinkled, or sticky. If any problems are found, it should be replaced in time. At the same time, according to the size and shape of the object to be transferred, cut the transfer paper of appropriate size to minimize waste.

Processing of objects to be transferred: Thoroughly clean the surface of the object to remove oil, dust, and impurities to ensure that the transfer paper can fit well with the surface of the object. For objects with uneven surfaces, proper grinding or processing is required to improve the transfer effect.

2. During Transfer

Temperature control: Different materials and transfer papers require different transfer temperatures, generally between 180℃-220℃. Too low a temperature may lead to insufficient dye sublimation, light-colored and weak patterns; too high a temperature may cause discoloration of the pattern, burn the paper, or damage the surface of the object.

Pressure adjustment: Adjust the appropriate pressure according to the material and shape of the object. If the pressure is too low, the transfer paper will not be in sufficient contact with the object, and problems such as blurred patterns and lack of color will occur; if the pressure is too high, the paper or object may be deformed, or even the thermal transfer equipment may be damaged.

Time control: The transfer time is usually between 10 seconds and 60 seconds, which should be determined according to factors such as temperature, pressure, material, and pattern complexity. If the time is too short, the pattern cannot be fully transferred; if the time is too long, the pattern may be too dark or blurred.

3. After Transfer

Cooling treatment: After the transfer is completed, let the object cool naturally or use appropriate cooling methods to avoid cracks or falling off of the pattern due to rapid cooling.

Inspection and cleaning: Carefully check the transfer effect. If there are defects or poor transfer, analyze the reasons and take corresponding measures. At the same time, clean the thermal transfer equipment and work area in time to keep the equipment clean and in good working condition.
