Storage methods for industrial light sublimation paper

Aug 21, 2024

Proper storage of industrial light sublimation paper is essential to ensure its performance and printing quality. Here are some effective storage methods:

1. Pay attention to environmental control
Industrial light sublimation paper should be stored in a dry and clean environment. The suitable temperature range is generally between 15℃ and 25℃, and the relative humidity is best maintained at 40% to 60%. Too high a temperature may cause the paper to deform and soften, affecting its flatness, which may cause problems such as paper jams during printing. Excessive humidity will make the paper damp, which is not only easy to breed mold, but also affects the stability of the dye in the ink and reduces the transfer effect. Hygrometers and thermometers can be used to monitor the temperature and humidity of the storage environment. If necessary, environmental conditions can be adjusted by installing air conditioners, dehumidifiers and other equipment.

2. Avoid direct sunlight
Long-term exposure to sunlight will cause the paper to discolor and age, especially the decomposition of the dye in the ink, which will affect the color vividness and accuracy of the print. Therefore, the paper should be stored in a dark place, such as a dark warehouse or cabinet. You can use blackout curtains, blinds, etc. to block the sun, or put the paper in an opaque package.

3. Try to keep the paper in the original packaging
The original packaging usually has certain moisture-proof and UV-proof functions, which can better protect the paper. After opening the package and using part of the paper, the remaining paper should be sealed as soon as possible to prevent dust, moisture, etc. from entering. Paper is best stored vertically rather than stacked horizontally. Vertical storage can reduce the pressure between the papers and prevent the paper from deforming. It is also conducive to air circulation and reduces the risk of moisture. You can use a special paper storage rack or cabinet to place the paper vertically in it.

4. Store away from chemicals
Industrial light sublimation paper should be kept away from chemicals such as paint, solvents, and detergents. These chemicals may volatilize harmful gases and have adverse effects on the dyes in the paper and ink. Ensure that the storage area is a certain distance from the chemical storage area to avoid cross contamination.

5. Regular inspection and maintenance
Regularly check the appearance and quality of the paper to check whether it is damp, deformed, discolored, etc. If problems are found, timely measures should be taken, such as changing the storage environment and using desiccant. At the same time, turn the paper regularly to avoid long-term static storage that may cause the paper to stick or deform.
