How to use fast dry sublimation paper?
Feb 19, 2025
To use fast-dry sublimation paper for thermal transfer, follow the steps below:
1. Design and preparation
Pattern design: Use professional graphic design software, such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, etc., to carefully design the pattern you want to transfer. Note that the color mode must be set to CMYK or RGB, and the resolution is recommended to be 300dpi or above to ensure the clarity and color accuracy of the pattern. At the same time, since the pattern will be reversed left and right after thermal transfer, the mirror flip operation must be performed after the design is completed.
Select equipment: Prepare an inkjet printer that supports thermal sublimation printing, and make sure that the printer has correctly installed thermal sublimation ink. At the same time, prepare thermal transfer equipment, such as a flatbed thermal transfer machine or a roller thermal transfer machine, select a suitable model according to the shape and size of the transfer object, and preheat it to the appropriate temperature.
2. Printing process
Paper placement: Put the fast-dry sublimation paper into the printer paper box, pay attention to the correct direction of the paper placement, and ensure that the printer can feed the paper smoothly. The front side of the transfer paper (the side with the special coating) should face the printer nozzle.
Print settings: In the printer driver, select the appropriate print quality and color management options. It is generally recommended to select the high-quality printing mode to obtain the best pattern effect. For color management, you can adjust it according to actual needs to ensure that the color of the printed pattern is consistent with the design draft. After the settings are completed, click Print, and the printer will print the pattern on the transfer paper. Because the transfer paper dries quickly, the ink can dry in a short time after printing, without additional waiting.
3. Thermal transfer process
Item pretreatment: Clean the surface of the item to be transferred, remove dust, oil, and other impurities to ensure the transfer effect. If the item is a fabric, it needs to be ironed flat in advance.
Paper and item bonding: The front side of the transfer paper with the pattern printed on it is tightly attached to the surface of the item to be transferred, ensuring that there are no bubbles, wrinkles, or gaps between the two. For irregularly shaped items, high-temperature resistant tape can be used to fix the transfer paper.
Heat transfer operation: put the laminated items into the preheated heat transfer machine, and set the appropriate temperature, pressure, and time according to the material of the item and the instructions for use of the transfer paper. Start the heat transfer machine. Under the action of high temperature and high pressure, the dye molecules on the transfer paper sublimate and penetrate into the surface of the item to achieve pattern transfer. After the heat transfer is completed, take the item out of the heat transfer machine.
Peel off the transfer paper: After the item cools to room temperature, carefully peel off the transfer paper. At this point, the pattern has been successfully transferred to the item. Check the transfer effect. If there are defects, decide whether to re-transfer according to the situation.
