Choosing the correct sublimation paper
Feb 16, 2022
1. Ink Limitations and Capacity
This is a crucial consideration: the thicker the paper, the higher the wet ink limit, the less likely it is that the ink would absorb moisture and cause distortions like curling and warping.
2. Pattern in Ink
This clarifies the printing of an extremely intricate piece of artwork with a combination of light and heavy ink input. Low weight papers often have this problem, curling and moving after pressing. The simplest way to get rid of this is to use 110gsm or more, which can handle both light and strong inks.
3. Roll to Roll, or Roll to Sheet
Calendar heat press prefers low-gsm papers. But in heavy ink, limit and capacity are to be considered wisely. Here we consider the limitations of high capacity production and consequences like warping and curling.
4. Print Speed
The quality of the paper to be produced depends on what speed it is being printed at. Fast printing produces lightweight paper, slow printing produces thick paper.
